“ I've been wanting to check this place out for at least a year and it exceeded all expectations I had! First thing is, I really love the decor. It is beautiful inside and adds to the charm and atmosphere of the restaurant. It is very cozy inside as well and seems pretty roomy and not at all crowded. The service was fantastic, Matthew was very polite and engaging and I could tell that all the staff enjoyed being there as there were all smiles from the people I saw! And the food... I really don't think words can do justice to how delicious the food was. I had a chicken strip appetizer with honey and cashews which was perfectly tender and delicious, an amazing tomato basil soup, the special which was halibut served with rice and vegetables and the best butter I've ever tasted. It had rosemary, lemon, walnut (all of which I tasted) and somehow stood on its own without taking away from the fish flavor. Truly blew me away! I topped it off with a perfect NY-style cheesecake with an incredible berry and lemon sauce. This is a restaurant that I can't wait to come back to and one that has my highest recommendation! Zero criticisms on my end. ”
“ Went to Le Bistro by Liz for our first trip in Nova Scotia for our Honeymoon and we were amazed with the exceptional service and outstanding selection of food. The French Onion Soup was by far the best I've had in Canada, hands down! We also tried the Garlic Shrimp, which we devoured, and they were grilled to perfection! The server was kind enough to bring us a complimentary piece of pie for dessert to help us celebrate our honeymoon in Nova Scotia. I can't wait to return in the future for our anniversary! ”
“ For sure a hidden gem. I think it's location under an old apartment building makes people overlook it. I thought it was a cafeteria for the longest time! Anyway, the atmosphere is my favourite in Halifax. A little slice of a Parisian street stereotype. Fun and kind of rare these days. French onion soup immediately put a smile on my face. Loved dipping the included buttered bread in the soup. Lobster puff pastry with tarragon sauce had a nice flavour and pastry was perfectly light. Beef bourguinon was tender, but the flavour was pretty standard. I would recommend trying another entree if it's your first time here. Overall, looking forward to coming back and trying other menu items! ”
“ Le Bistro by Liz never disappoints. Service is excellent. Love the lemon parfait pie - light and refreshing - ate it too quickly and forgot to take a picture. I rarely order soup at restaurants as I find them usually very salty. The onion soup here is perfect! For the entrees, they do give you value for your money. We have yet to try every single item on the menu. Can’t wait to go back. ”
